Brazil meat imports in Malaysia unaffected by scandal - Bernama

None of the Brazilian meat in Malaysia comes from the 21 processing plants named so far by police as under investigation for alleged unsanitary and corrupt practices, Malaysian state news agency Bernama reported citing Minister-Counsellor at the Brazilian embassy in Malaysia Daniel Falcon Lins.

"None of the 21 plants are originally authorised to export to Malaysia, maybe due to halal compliance," Bernama quoted Lins as saying.

Investigations are ongoing after Brazil's Federal Police launched raids last Friday on food processing companies in the country following allegations of corruption by health inspectors and the alleged sale of rotten products.
