Egypt's Manpower Ministry provides EGP 317m in emergency aid to tourism workers


Published 29 Oct,2020 via Daily News Egypt - Mohamed Saafan, Minister of Manpower, announced that his Ministry’s Emergency Benefits Fund is currently working on the disbursement of the second and third batches of emergency aid, estimated at EGP 317.305m, to 146,610 tourism workers who were affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

The targeted workers are from 2,204 tourism establishments that have been affected by the ongoing health crisis which has severely impacted global tourism.

The aid represents 100% of the workers’ basic wage of EGP 600 minimum.

Saafan said that the emergency aid disbursement rules for the tourism sector were established in agreement between the ministries of manpower, tourism, and planning during a recent meeting to support that sector.
