Oman, UK talk on free trade agreement


Published 10 Oct,2021 via Muscat Daily - H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received James Cleverly, Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa at the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, on Sunday who is currently visiting the sultanate.

The two sides discussed a number of existing areas of cooperation within the framework of the comprehensive agreement based on solid friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Both sides touched upon a number of joint economic and investment programmes and projects, in addition to cooperation in the field of public health and overcoming the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two sides expressed their keen interest in reaching a free trade agreement between the UK and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

At the regional and international levels, the two sides discussed efforts to end the war in Yemen, support humanitarian efforts, the situation in Afghanistan and the Iranian nuclear file.
