India has issued policy conditions for the export of halal meat and its products, effective today.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), said that specified meat and meat products can be exported as halal-certified to select countries, only if such goods are produced or processed and/or packaged in facilities certified under the 'India Conformity Assessment Scheme (I-CAS) - Halal' of the Quality Council of India.
The 15 target markets to which meat products can be exported include the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Malaysia, and Qatar.
