International tourists down 83% in Q1 2021: UNWTO
Published 14 Jun,2021 via Daily News Egypt - International tourists were down 83% in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, as widespread travel restrictions remained in place, according to the latest report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The report noted that between January and March 2021, tourist destinations worldwide welcomed 180 million fewer international arrivals compared to the first quarter of last year.
Asia and the Pacific continued to suffer the lowest levels of activity, with a 94% drop in international arrivals over the three-month period. Meanwhile, Europe recorded the second largest decline by 83%, followed by Africa by 81%, the Middle East by 78%, and the Americas by 71%.
