The Kingdom of Morocco becomes the 35th member state to join the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS)
On March 2, 2021, Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) H. E. Yerlan Baidaulet visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Republic of Kazakhstan to follow up on previous meetings and discuss the current state of cooperation with the Moroccan Ambassador, H. E. Abdeljalil Saubry.
The Director-General of IOFS expressed appreciation to the government of the esteemed member state of the Kingdom of Morocco for signing the IOFS Statute on February 25, 2021 in Jeddah. This makes the Kingdom of Morocco the 35th member state of the Islamic Organization for Food Security.
Agriculture plays a crucial role in the economy of Morocco, and accounts for nearly 38% of the population's employment and 17% of GDP. Morocco is one of the top exporters of phosphate fertilizers, citrus fruits, olive oil, sugar, fish and processed agricultural products.
