Ten popular Muslim-friendly resorts around the world
The Muslim tourist population is a fast-growing segment, expected to reach 230 million by 2028, with an estimated expenditure of $225 billion, reflecting the increasing economic impact of Muslim tourists.
To cater to this growing travel niche, resorts around the world have developed ecosystems that offer halal dining options, privacy-focused leisure activities, prayer-friendly environments, and family-oriented hospitality.
Many such resorts also provide easy access to prayer facilities, whether through on-site prayer rooms, clear Qibla directions, or proximity to nearby mosques. Some go further by adopting alcohol-free policies altogether or offering private, women-only, or family-only swimming and spa areas.
Methodology
Unlike airlines or mobile apps, resorts do not publish standardised guest numbers, making a strict “most visited” ranking impossible. To ensure credibility, this list uses a proxy-based methodology grounded in publicly verifiable signals. First, resorts were assessed based on demand visibility. Properties that consistently appear on Muslim-focused booking platforms (such as HalalBooking), as well as major mainstream platforms like Booking.com and TripAdvisor, were treated as high-demand candidates.
Second, we evaluated the strength of Muslim-friendly features, including clearly stated halal dining, alcohol-free policies, women-only or family-private beaches and pools, and access to prayer facilities either on-site or nearby.
Third, and crucially, this list applies a diversity constraint: No more than two resorts from any single country are included unless the available data overwhelmingly supports broader representation.
This prevents the ranking from being dominated by one destination and reflects the global nature of Muslim-friendly resort travel today.
Finally, only resorts were included; city hotels, villa-only rentals, and destinations without a defined resort experience were excluded.
