Founded in 1985 and originally named PT Pusaka Tradisi Ibu, Paragon has a strong presence across Indonesia and has collaborated with 25 countries across the globe. Paragon has developed its own Paragon Research and Innovation Center for the purposes of developing creative and innovative and effective halal product formulations, processes and technologies. . The company consists of six departments: Colour Cosmetics, Skin Care, Raw Material, Efficacy, Microbiology, and Process Development. It also has various laboratories including an emulsion laboratory, semisolid laboratory, powder laboratory, and liquid-surfactant laboratory. The company manufactures over 135 million units of halal-certified make-up, facial treatments, and hair products annually. It currently consists of halal cosmetics brands such as Wardah, Make Over, Emina, Putri, and Kahf. For its first cosmetics brand, Wardah, the company capitalized on the growing demand for halal cosmetics by using halal certification as its key selling point and targeting young fashion-conscious Muslim population Paragon was awarded in three categories at the LPPOM MUI Halal Award 2023, including the “Favourite Halal Brand”, “Longlife Achievement”, and “Best Social Contribution on Halal Ecosystem”, and also received the “WIPO National Award for Enterprise” for its contribution to the development of intellectual property using an integrated halal system used in its brands.
