The UAE and Indonesia Halal Markets: Sharing Experiences and Business Opportunities

Indonesia is the main Halal market worldwide. Driven by the largest global Muslim population, the domestic spending across Halal economy products and services is projected to reach 330.5 billion dollars by 2025. The country offers companies relevant business opportunities in different Halal sectors, such as food or cosmetics, and it’s home to some of the largest and most successful Halal conglomerates in the world, such as Indofood or Wardah, allowing also Indonesia to be one the leaders in Halal cosmetics or Halal Food sectors in terms of production.

 

For its part, the UAE plays a vital role as a global Halal trading hub. Dubai is at the center of trade for the 57 OIC member countries, representing $296 billion Halal-related industrial sector imports in 2018. The city has state-of-the-art technical and logistical infrastructures, as well as a disruptive government mindset, supported by stakeholders such as Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, the Halal Trade and Marketing Centre, Free Zones, and others to foster the development of the Halal market.
