1 day to haj: More than 1.84 mln pilgrims from abroad in Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage


The number of pilgrims from abroad who have arrived in Saudi Arabia for this year’s haj reached 1,843,961 as of August 7, according to the ministry of hajj and umrah on its official Twitter account.

This was up from 1,817,557 as of August 6.

More than 2 million pilgrims are expected to perform the haj this year that starts on August 9.

Pilgrims will spend the day on the plains of Mount Arafat on August 10 and Eid al Adha will fall on the next day.

In 2018, 2.37 million pilgrims congregated in Saudi Arabia for the haj. Around 75 per cent, or 1,758,722, came from abroad, according to data from Saudi’s General Authority for Statistics.
