Hotels and restaurants all over Dubai have put their best food forward for the discerning Ramadan diner. We’ve picked our favourite places for you to break your fast and enjoy some quiet time with family and friends.

RAMADAN SAWA TENT @ ADDRESS DUBAI MARINA

Best for: Impressing a visitor

Blending traditional Arabic hospitality with a touch of modernity, Ramadan Sawa at the Address Dubai Marina’s Constellation Ballroom is one of the most lavish spreads in the city. Self-styled as “The Grand Buffet”, it features an extensive selection of Arabic and international dishes across the foyer. Live stations, hot and cold dishes, sweets and desserts, and refreshing Ramadan juices: you’re going to keep going back for more. Plus, for a local experience, they also have some Emirati dishes such as lafayef khoboz falazi, robyan mashwi, and tekat deyay as well as desserts like leqaimat.

“HEALTHY IFTAR” @ ROVE DOWNTOWN

Best for: Fitness-conscious foodies on a budget

The self-proclaimed “healthiest iftar in town”, Rove Downtown is encouraging diners to exchange the traditional Arabian buffet for a healthier alternative. At The Daily, you can choose from a broad menu that offers a range of options: fresh juices, a salad bar, and tasty main courses. Dishes like quinoa, sesame seed and dried apricot, or lentil soup, and a healthy mixed grill are the options for the main course; this keeps your meal light and you feeling good all month. And you can’t beat the views.

How much? AED 99 per person, with children over six paying only AED 49

MENA FAYRE @ SOFITEL DUBAI JUMEIRAH BEACH

Best for: Trying as many regional dishes as possible

A traditional Arabic, Moroccan and Turkish iftar buffet plus a gorgeous view of the water is the experience waiting for you at A.O.C. French Brasserie at Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach. They have also added dishes from other cuisines, so you can be sure to find something you like. Break your fast with a selection of juices like qamar al deen, or indulge in some tasty harira. Grab your favourite appetiser from one of the live cooking stations and finish with Umm Ali.

Diners can also enjoy tunes from the santoor player, and ladies can get henna art done.

FAIRUZ RAMADAN TENT @ FAIRMONT THE PALM

Best for: Fashionistas going out for iftar

Launched just this week, this one is for “ladies who iftar”. Drawing its name from a word meaning “precious stone”, the Fairuz Ramadan Tent at Fairmont the Palm is decorated to the nines in a modern Arabian style, with Moroccan touches in colourful hues. Needless to say, there are Instagram-worthy backdrops aplenty. The iftar buffet offers all the staple favourites, but what really makes this worth a visit are the lavish date displays.

How much? AED 175 per person, with 50 per cent off for children between 6 and 12 years

EMIRATI IFTAR @ KARAK HOUSE

Best for: Local cuisine

This homegrown Emirati restaurant offers more than just a brilliant location this Ramadan. The Karak House chefs are celebrating seasonal specials, adding an unusual twist to the iftar concept. They have created eight new dishes using Emirati cooking methods with traditional flavours, but they have given each one an upgrade. From freekeh soup and crunchy vegetables to lamb qouzi and hummus art, each one is more interesting than the last.
