61% there: Road to Islamic countries achieving SDGs ‘rough and uneven’, says new study
Islamic countries are 61% of the way to reaching the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 but the road to achieving them remains tough and uneven, says a new report from the Islamic Research and Training Institute.
IRTI is a member of the multilateral Islamic Development Bank Group. Its new report, released April 15, assesses 54 IDB member countries that have available sufficient data.
Overall, the 54 member countries made the most progress on SDG 13 (Climate Action) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
Progress has been far slower for SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), 5 (Gender Equality) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
No country could be considered unsatisfactory (below 40% achievement) but there are 25 with lower than satisfactory achievement of below 60%.
