After supermarkets, UK halal baby food brand For Aisha breaks into independent stores

UK halal baby food brand For Aisha has started selling into independent stores after seven years of being on the shelves of supermarkets.

The move is important for the company as many Muslim families shop locally for their halal foods, according to For Aisha founder Mark Salter in a statement.

"We’ve always wanted to launch in this sector but (until now) finding a way to service regular small orders to each Independent retailer has been a challenge. Now with the rise of courier services and the growth and simplicity of online ordering, this will be possible for the first time," said Salter.

For Aisha meals will be delivered to independent retailers by courier and fulfilled via e-commerce provider UK Brand Sales.

The company's 10 recipe range of infant food is currently sold in the UK by Euro Food Brands to supermarkets including ASDA, Sainsbury’s, and Ocado and will start retailing in Morrison's in the summer.

Outside the UK For Aisha is also sold in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore, France and Belgium.

For Aisha currently manufactures its meals in the UK, France, and Spain, according to its website. They are halal-certified by the UK's Halal Monitoring Committee, France's Contrôle de la Mosquée d'Évry Courcouronnes, and Garantía Junta Islamica, respectively.
