Dot & Line secures strategic investment from UAE-based Falcon Network

  • Founded in 2018, Dot & Line is one of Pakistan’s leading and fastest-growing private tuition platforms
  • Dot & Line will leverage Falcon Network’s capital and expertise to accelerate growth in the UAE and other Gulf markets

4 January 2021 | 10:00 AM (Pakistan Standard Time) KARACHI— Dot & Line, one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing EdTech platforms, has today announced the closing of a strategic investment from Falcon Network, a UAE-based early-stage investor in impact-driven start-ups across emerging markets.

Founded in 2018 by two London School of Economics alums – Lina Ahmed and Maheen Adamjee – Dot & Line is a technology-based platform that is empowering thousands of female teachers to deliver online classes in Maths, English, and Urdu from the comfort of their own homes. Tutors follow a proprietary, step-by-step learning and development programme built exclusively for Dot & Line by education experts from the world’s leading universities. Dot & Line’s tutors are able to show a 40% increase in student learning outcomes within four months, while earning PKR 24,000 ($150) to PKR 100,000 ($620) every month.

Falcon Network’s investment concludes an exciting twelve months for the Dot & Line – with the business witnessing impressive growth in students, teachers, and revenues during 2020. As well as Dot & Line’s flagship Maths and English content, the company recently launched a high-quality Urdu offering due to increasing demand from Pakistani diaspora communities in the Gulf, Europe, and North America. Dot & Line intends to utilise the latest investment to further develop its technology and expand in key international markets.

Lina Ahmed, co-founder of Dot & Line said: “Going online and global has been very exciting for us. We have now taught well over 4000 students across Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada, and the UK. We are delighted to secure investment from Falcon Network who will be a valuable partner as we progress our vision to instill a love for learning and achieve better outcomes for every student in the Dot & Line family.”

Co-founder Maheen Adamjee added: “Falcon Network’s investment is not only a testament to the progress Dot & Line has made in 2020, but also highlights the potential for scale and future growth of the business. We are grateful to all our investors for their commitment and look forward to their continued support as we accelerate our growth trajectory in 2021.”

Zohaib Patel, Partner at Falcon Network said: “Today’s announcement marks our third recent EdTech investment and our second investment in a Pakistan-focused start-up. Our philosophy at Falcon is to invest in mission-driven entrepreneurs who are providing new and innovative solutions to problems that exist within their societies. Maheen and Lina are visionary founders who have built one of Pakistan’s most exciting EdTech platforms. We are pleased to close this investment and play our part in the Dot & Line journey.”
