FINTERRA Launches the FINTERRA WAQF Chain Platform at the Islamic Fintech Dialogue 2019
KUALA LUMPUR, February 2019—The 2nd edition of the Islamic Fintech Dialogue 2019 (IFD2019) concluded a successful dialogue that saw the launch of the FINTERRA WAQF Chain. The FINTERRA WAQF Chain is the first and only platform in the world that has specifically developed a blockchain-based solution to crowdfund WAQF charity, Islamic investments, and peer-to-peer lending.
Over 20 internationally recognized speakers and 450 delegates from 18 countries attended the dialogue from the Banking & Financial industry, Regulators, Scholars, Members from IDB, WIEF, Policy Makers, NGOs, Fintech influencers, Government Agencies, Embassies, Media, and Religious Leaders. This event was organised by the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), in collaboration with FINTERRA and the Association of Shariah Advisors (ASAS) on the 19th & 20th of February 2019 at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
With the theme of “Providing Fintech Insights to the Disruptors and the Disrupted”, the 2nd edition placed special focus on showcasing the mechanisms and instruments that are in place to support Islamic FinTech development, and create new opportunities in the overall development of Islamic Finance.
On hand to launch the WAQF Chain was the Founder of FINTERRA, Mr. Hamid Rashid, accompanied by the Executive Chairman, Hj Mazlan Ahmad, Prof. Dr. Syed Khalid Rashid, the WAQF expert advisor, Mohamed Saifudin, Business Development Director, and Prof. Dr. Mohamad Akram Laldin, the Executive Director of ISRA.
Apart from launching the WAQF Chain, FINTERRA also exchanged two MOUs. IFD2019 saw the first official signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) exchange with Harapan Capital Group Bhd, represented by Dato’ Seri Paduka Hj Shukor Bin Mohsin, Group Executive Chairman, and Dato’ Seri Dr Andrew Kph Kusumo, Group Corporate Service Director. This agreement will enable Harapan Capital to use the FINTERRA WAQF Chain to promote its charitable, shariah investment products, and P2P lending causes for its members to participate in. The second MOU agreement was between FINTERRA and Bentara Development Sdn Bhd, represented by Haji Abdul Khalid Abdul Aziz, Chief Executive Officer. FINTERRA has agreed to work with Bintara on an upcoming WAQF development opportunity in Malaysia with a value of over RM100 Million.
