Global Islamic Economy Summit moved to November 2021

The Global Islamic Economy Summit (GIES) that was originally scheduled for November 9-10 this year has been moved to November 1-2, 2021.

The event will be held on the sidelines of the World Expo that will open October 2021 after being postponed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a statement on the Dubai Media Office website on Monday (June 1).

The GIES is organised by the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dubai Chamber).

DIEDC will this year move forward with a series of virtual sessions, including workshops, panel discussions and webinars.

"Through the GIES Virtual Series, organised in collaboration with our strategic partners, we aim to explore new ideas and exchange knowledge on ways to optimise the development of key Islamic economy sectors," said DIEDC CEO Abdulla Mohammed Al Awar.

The last GIES held in 2018 in Dubai was attended by more than 3,000 participants.
