Halal certifiers: Lessons learned from the kosher industry


The global halal food sector, estimated at $632 billion in 2010, has indicatively grown by 6 percent per annum to reach $795 billion in 2014. The number of certifiers has also grown, now at over 300 globally. The ko sher sector has overcome similar challenges during its evolution. How did 40 percent of all packaged foods and drinks in the U.S. become kosher-certified despite Jews making up less than 2 percent of the population?
