Indonesia's total national milk consumption was 3.8 million tons in 2016, according to data from the ministry of agriculture.
Milk consumption has increased steadily from 2.12 kilograms per capita per year for local cow milk and 9.72 kilograms per capita per year for imported cow milk in 2007 to 3.22 kg/capita/year for local milk and 13.62 kg/capita/year for imported milk in 2016.
On the supply side, domestic production of raw milk was 852,000 tons in 2016, equivalent to around 22.34 percent of total consumption.
