Indonesia's religious affairs ministry delivers halal certificate for Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine as nation starts mass vaccination
Indonesia's ministry of religious affairs on Wednesday (January 13) delivered the halal certificate for the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine to Bio Farma, the government body said on its website.
State-owned Bio Farma is storing the first shipment of 1.2 million doses of the vaccine that Sinovac delivered to Indonesia on December 6. The bio tech company will also process the raw materials shipped by Sinovac for 45 million doses of the vaccine.
Indonesia's national halal certifier BPJPH officially approved the vaccine on Jan 12, ahead of the start of mass vaccination on Wednesday.
President Joko Widodo was the first in the country to receive a shot.
