Jordan's tourism revenue witnessed drop of 44.8% in first-half of 2021 — central bank

Published 19 Aug,2021 via The Jordan Times AMMAN — The Kingdom’s tourism revenue in the first half of 2021 went down by 44.8 per cent to JD441.4 million compared with JD784 in the same period of last year, the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) said on Wednesday.

The tourism revenue in the first half of 2019, before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, totalled JD1.9 billion, the CBJ said as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Meanwhile, Jordanians’ expenditure on travel during the January to June period of 2021 also dropped by 4 per cent to JD190.1 million compared with the same period of 2020, the CBJ data revealed.
