Kuwait shuts down shops, malls amid COVID-19 outbreak


Kuwait shut down shops, malls and barbershops from Saturday Mar 14.

State news agency KUNA said that arcades and entertainment centres for children will also be closed.

Cooperative societies and ration centres will remain open, according to KUNA.

Kuwait registered 112 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as at Mar 15, according to data from the World Health Organisation.

It was the first country in the world to suspend all commercial flights into and out of the country, starting Mar 13. Cargo flights are still allowed to operate.
