Malaysia, Uzbekistan to exchange tourism best practices

Malaysia and Uzbekistan are looking to establish strong ties between entities to exchange best practices in tourism.

There is a need to introduce tourism standards that are compatible with Islamic values, Malaysia’s prime minister Anwar Ibrahim and Uzbekistan premier Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a joint statement.

The Malaysian premier travelled to the Central Asian country on a three-day state visit.

“The growing flow of two-way tourists was positively evaluated, and the increasing air traffic between the capitals and establishing direct air flights from the major cities of Malaysia to the cities of Samarkand and Bukhara will serve to activate the relations between the business circles and increase the flow of tourists,” Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama reported, quoting the official statement.

The leaders also discussed concerns over rising religious intolerance and agreed to “promote the ideas of interreligious tolerance and harmony on a global scale, for the greater good of the Ummah,” the statement read.
