Modest fashion looks of the month: May 2017
Ramadan is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like us, you have your eyes on a few abaya styles to sport this year. From ruffles to big bows, here are 10 head-turning modest looks you should opt for this Ramadan.
RUFFLE UP
Ruffles are in this season, and they’re apparently making their way to our abayas, too. Though not your traditional abaya, Rafidah’s traditional Kurung is a great way to make a modest-fashion statement.
FIRST (P)LACE
We can’t get enough of lace. Ever. The style classic adorns everything from shoes to bags and abayas. Spice up an old boring abaya by adding lace details to the sleeves and bottom or buy Zara Zi’s look from Aaliya Collections.
BELT IT UP
One of this season’s top trends is the corset waist belt. Incorporate the fashion trend into your abaya style like Fatma Husam did here.
RING A BELL
This year is all about statement sleeves. Play up your abaya sleeves this Ramadan by opting for a bell sleeve abaya like Saufeeya Goodson’s Noor The Label abaya here.
DEAR SHEER
It’s not easy to wear sheer without worrying too much about over-exposure. However, Nabilah Kariem managed to find a winning set of rules for a worry-free, daring fashion statement.
RAZZLE DAZZLE
Who said your abaya has to be black and boring? A heavily embellished abaya or thobe is a great statement-making piece to invest in that you surely can wear long after Ramadan is over. Marwa Atik’s hand-stitched thobe is definitely one to die for.
DRAMA QUEEN
We don’t even know where to start with Reyan Haidar’s most recent kaftan look. Victorian: check. Statement making: check. Modest: check. What more could one want?!
SPRING GLAM
Because who doesn’t love glitter? Reman Ali’s Perla abaya is great for a night out in a Ramadan tent or at a friend’s suhoor. Take a style cue from the Emirati blogger and pair it with a bright popping colour underneath.
CTRL+P
Prints, prints, prints. Although the word-print fashion trend is on the rise, colorful prints and color blocking is still appreciated. Ayshah Kamel added a pop of colour to her Bardees abaya through her choice of accessories and veil.
PRETTY IN PINK
And saving the best for last, pink abayas are the new black. @JadoreAmina rocked her Miella Fashion abaya in pink (available to buy on MySalaam).
