Muslim Pro app creator raises $20m in Series A funding

Singapore-headquartered Bitsmedia has raised $20 million in Series A funding as it looks to scale its technological capabilities.

The fundraise recorded participation from Asia-focused venture capital firm, Gobi Partners, alongside existing investors – CMIA Capital Partners, and Bintang Capital Partners. Gobi Partners has $1.6 billion in assets under management (AUM).

Bitsmedia, creator of the Muslim lifestyle app, Muslim Pro, will deploy the funds to further its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, enrich content offerings on Bitsmedia’s streaming platform, Qalbox, develop educational features, and improve the Quran experience within Muslim Pro.

The Muslim Pro app has amassed over 150 million downloads globally.

Nafees Khundker, managing director of Bitsmedia, said: "This investment is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation and expanding our reach into key international markets such as the US, UK, Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as new territories within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.”

Meanwhile, Fara Abdullah, Bitsmedia's CEO added that the vision for Muslim Pro is to evolve into a comprehensive platform that meets the diverse needs of the Muslim community.
