Oman's Ministry of Tourism expects more than 2 million visitors to Muscat Festival 2016, the country's biggest cultural event.
Now in its 16th year, the month-long festival will run until February 13.
The event covers Oman's arts and culture, including fashion shows, a heritage and family village, and theatre performances for children.
Activities will be held across the country, including at Al Amerat Park and Naseem Garden.
The Director General of Tourism Promotion, Oman Ministry of Tourism, Salim Edi Al Mamari, said in a statement, "We are confident that this year's edition of the Muscat Festival will be able to draw in more visitors to the Sultanate, giving them the opportunity to explore and learn more about the beauty, heritage and culture of Oman. Nationals, residents and tourists will definitely enjoy the programs and activities like heritage villages, theatre performances and trade exhibits."
Muscat Festival first launched in 1998 and is organised by the Muscat Municipality.
