Oman, Mauritania sign MoU on records and archives management

Published 01 Mar,2021 via Muscat Daily - The sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday in the field of historical documentation and records and archives management.

The MoU was signed by Dr Hamad Mohammed al Dhawyani, chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), and Dr Mohammed al Mukhtar, director of National Records of Mauritania.

Signing of the MoU came within the framework of the current official visit of a Mauritanian delegation headed by Dr Is’haq Said Syed al Amin, assistant secretary general of the Mauritanian government.

The memorandum reflects the relations between the sultanate and Mauritania, and the desire of the two countries to strengthen and develop cooperation in the fields of records and archives to serve the mutual interests.

In addition, signing such memoranda reflects the efforts of the NRAA to establish an integrated system of cooperation with institutions at the local and international level in order to contribute and support its approach and achieve its vision.

The MoU includes agendas such as encouraging cooperation in the field of copying records, printing and exchanging manuscripts and books, preserving and maintaining documentary records and accompanying technologies, and cooperation in the field of publishing documentary, cultural, literary and historical publications along with organising activities.

The MoU also encourages participation in conferences, exhibitions and workshops in the field of records and archive management, enhancing the exchange of experiences, providing training for staff, and conducting scientific researches.
