Oman, Saudi to sign MoU for tourism cooperation


Published 31 Aug,2021 via Muscat Daily - H E Salim bin Mohammed bin Said al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, received Eng Khalid bin Abdulaziz al Falih, Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia at his office on Tuesday.

During the meeting, joint investment areas in projects that attract tourists were discussed including facilitating and exchange of experiences in the heritage and tourism sectors, stimulating and promoting tourism in both countries after recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two sides also discussed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed between the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism in Saudi Arabia that will set a framework and a basis for cooperation between the two countries.

The MoU will cover many axes related to the exchange of expertise and experience in tourism promotion, exhibitions and joint tourism activities, as well as resource development in the field of training.

The meeting was attended by H E Abdul Salam bin Muhammad al Murshidi, chairman of the Oman Investment Authority and Ahmed bin Osama Arab, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism for Strategic Planning and Intelligence Business in Saudi Arabia as well as Hashil bin Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO, Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) among others.
