Published 21 Nov,2020 via Muscat Daily - The food industry has been integral to Omani culture for many generations, but with the advent of modern technology and the Blessed Renaissance, the sector witnessed significant developments. It is now considered a national wealth that touches and affects every citizen and resident, directly and indirectly.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) has developed agricultural, livestock and fish production systems to facilitate increased yield. Omani dates, vegetable and fruit crops, honey, milk, table eggs, poultry meat, red meat and fish are made available not just to the local market, but also exported.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, a MAFWR official said, “The total cultivation area has increased over the last few years, from 240,283 acres in 2017 and 259,257 acres in 2018 to 262,855 acres in 2019.
