Oman's ministry of heritage and tourism plans four offices abroad to promote tourism
Published 17 Aug,2021 via Muscat Daily - The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has floated international tenders to promote Oman as a tourist destination in potential markets abroad.
The ministry has issued four tenders with the objective of opening tourism representative offices in Italy; UK and Ireland; India; and Germany, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries.
The appointed companies will play a role in formulating and executing business development, and media relations strategies and programmes to attract tourists to Oman and promote the sultanate as a tourist destination. The last date for bid submission is September 29.
The former Ministry of Tourism had several representative offices in Europe and India but with expiry of the contracts, there is a renewed push to open them again and bring in tourists to Oman.
According to the Economic Diversification Report 2020 of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-Up Unit, one of the main objectives for 2020 was to continue opening up representative offices in China and the US as a top priority.
Following that, MHT had in the beginning of August announced the opening a tourism representation office in China. The year-long contract lasts from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022 and is renewable.
