Saudi Arabia establishes theater and performing arts board
Published 25 Jul,2020 via Asharq Alawsat (English Edition) - The Saudi Ministry of Culture announced on Saturday the establishment of the board for Theater and Performing Arts Authority.
It will be headed by Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan.
The five-member board is tasked with taking the necessary decisions to achieve the goals of the authority and oversee the implementation of its strategies.
The authority is responsible for developing the theater scene in Saudi Arabia, supporting Saudi artists, actors and directors and scouting and developing local talent.
It will also encourage production and the industry. It will operate under authority CEO Sultan al-Bazie in developing the theater and performing arts sector by proposing a main strategy that will enrich the sector in line with the national cultural vision.
The strategy will be approved by the Ministry of Culture.
The board will work on encouraging investment in the field and encouraging individuals and companies in developing content in theater and the performing arts.
The authority will be responsible for organizing conferences, exhibitions, events and local and international competitions. It will also represent Saudi Arabia at related regional and international arenas.
