Saudi awards halal certificates to more than 219 facilities
Saudi Arabia has awarded halal certificates to more than 219 facilities.
The certificates were granted by the Halal Center of Health Sector Transformation Program, a key initiative under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, affiliated with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Saudi Gazette reported.
The program revealed that there are more than 62 entities are authorized to issue the halal certification, alongside 13 initiatives to shore up Saudi Arabia’s position in the halal economy.
The Saudi Halal Center issues halal certificates to relevant establishments and organizations, conducts specialized research to enhance product quality control, and implements various training programs. Its overarching aim to ensure that products including food, medicines, and cosmetics, comply with Islamic law and do not contain any prohibited ingredients.
The centre also contributes to the goal of enhancing preventive measures against health risks, aligning with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program.
