Saudi film production promoted by development and policy board


Published 27 Jul,2020 via Asharq Alawsat (English Edition) - The Saudi Ministry of Culture announced last week the formation of a board of directors of a film committee chaired by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the Minister of Culture, and his deputy Hamed Fayez as vice-chair of the board. Members include Hayfaa bint Abdulrahman al-Mansour, Muhieddine Saleh Kamel, Amanda Neville, Mohammad al-Khariji, and Amer al-Hamoud, with a three-year renewable term. The board will meet four times every year or whenever the need arises.

The board will be responsible for stipulating the necessary decisions to achieve the aims of the committee and will oversee the implementation of its strategies, set relevant policies, and establish internal and technical regulations and procedures.

Under the administration of its CEO engineer Abdullah al-Qahtani, the Film Committee will be responsible for developing the film industry in the Kingdom by recommending a strategy for it that is in line with the national culture strategy and will oversee the implementation of the strategy after it is adopted by the ministry. It will also recommend draft regulations and organizations required by the nature of the committee’s operations.
