Southeast Asian OIC countries are mobile first
Southeast Asian member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) -- Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia -- are overwhelmingly mobile first.
In Indonesia, there are 106 times more mobile cellular subscribers than fixed broadband subscriptions.
There are a lot more fixed broadband subscriptions in Brunei and Malaysia than in Indonesia, with Malaysia registering the highest number of fixed lines among the three countries -- 10.14 subscribers per 100 people versus 7.15 in Brunei and 1.19 in Indonesia.
The implication is clear for the Islamic media and digital sectors -- when designing any website or programme there must necessarily be a mobile first strategy.
