The Laughing Cow Cheese receives Indonesian halal nod

The Laughing Cow Cheese has received the halal certification mark for its packaging from Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH).

The new packaging aligns with Indonesia's recent regulations, mandating halal labelling, offering transparency to consumers across the country, the company said in a statement.

Alamjit Singh Sekhon, general manager of Bel Southeast Asia said that Indonesia has one of the largest Muslim populations in the world.

“All The Laughing Cow products in Indonesia were halal prior to this and now we have the new halal certificate from BPJPH as well. It is estimated by different surveys that approximately two-thirds of the children population in Indonesia suffer from deficiencies in protein and calcium and The Laughing Cow Cheese is a source of protein and calcium."

Indonesia consumers greatly value halal accreditation, with a recent study on consumer insights revealing that 93% of respondents in Indonesia consider the halal logo a crucial factor in their food purchase decisions.

Bel Group is a manufacturer and supplier of cheese and healthy snacking. Its portfolio includes The Laughing Cow, Kiri, Babybel, Boursin, Nurishh, Pom'Potes, GoGo squeeZ, and other local brands.
