These women opened up Muslim-friendly tourism: ‘We’ve always stuck to our cause’ – Tengku Suzana and Elaine Tee, Have Halal Will Travel

It reaches over 9 million users monthly and is Asia’s biggest travel and lifestyle platform dedicated to Muslims. It all started with a simple premise: to help Muslims explore the world without compromising their faith.
“Beyond what we do as a travel and lifestyle platform, what most people don’t realise is that our vision has always been: to have peace through travel,” said Tengku Suzana Tengku Abdul Kadir, who co-founded Have Halal, Will Travel with Elaine Tee and Mikhail Goh in 2015.
Content for travellers still remains a huge part of what the company focuses on today, but they have also branched out to doing other things to help companies, brands and tourist organsiations reach the Muslim traveller.
“Japan would be a very good example for this. For the past few years it has recognised the Muslim market as a rising one to tap into but there are language barriers, lack of understanding … so our events and research white papers provide a lot of insights for the Japanese partners that we work with,” said Elaine.
They may provide a diverse portfolio of services now but Tengku Suzana and Elaine are clear that everything they do focus on the same objective: to allow businesses to better cater their products and services to win in the Muslim-friendly travel market.
