Top 10 chocolate-consuming OIC countries
Chocolate's history stretches back more than 5,000 years: archaeological evidence from present-day Ecuador predates its better-known use by ancient Mesoamerican civilizations. Today, chocolate takes forms ranging from solid bars and drinking chocolate to pralines, truffles and chocolate-covered dates.
Chocolate has been eaten on every inhabited continent since, in forms that have little in common beyond the cocoa bean behind them: solid bars in Europe and North America, drinking chocolate across Latin America, pralines and truffles in Belgium and Switzerland, and date-filled or cocoa-dusted confections across much of the Gulf and North Africa.
The ten countries listed below are the top ten chocolate-consuming countries in the OIC by reported tonnage, and span the Gulf, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and North Africa.
