UAE imports 83,000 heads of cattle to meet Eid Al Adha demand

UAE imported 83,000 heads of cattle between June 10 and August 4 to meet the surge in demand for Eid Al Adha, reported state news agency WAM on Wednesday.

Livestock that arrived at border points are checked to ensure they are free from contamination, and to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.

The country also increased from 17 to 24 the number of countries from which it buys livestock.

“Armenia is the latest addition to our list of livestock exporters, and we have received the first consignment from that country just ahead of Eid Al Adha comprising 10,000 heads of cattle,” WAM reported, quoting the minster of climate change and environment Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
