UAE withdraws US-made Kikkoman soy sauce for alcohol content after halt on Japanese imports

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) is withdrawing low-sodium Kikkoman soy sauce made in the United States from the UAE market due to its alcohol content, the authority announced on its website yesterday. 

The decision follows the halt on imports of Japan-manufactured Kikkoman soy sauce on August 8, also for their alcohol content. 

Both decisions were made after specialised and accredited laboratory tests, and in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. (539) of 2012 on the Standard Guide to the Procedures for the Prohibition of Handling and Banning of Food, according to the ministry.
