Egypt to turn first Islamic capital in Africa ‘Fustat’ into open museum: Prime Minister

Published 24 Aug,2021 via Daily News Egypt - Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has followed up on the progress of the Fustat Gardens project, saying that the government is working on turning the first Islamic capital in Africa into an open museum.

Madbouly said that the government is accelerating the pace of implementing this vital project, in order to achieve a civilizational shift in the Fustat region, asserting the project to revive the region aims to revive the Egyptian heritage in various historical eras.

During the meeting, the PM reviewed the process of removing waste and obstacles at the project site, as well as reviewing the initial design for the cultural area.

The project aims to transform the region into a touristic site representing Historic Cairo, especially with its proximity to the Religious Complex in Old Cairo and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

It is worth noting that the Fustat Gardens development project is a public park overlooking a number of archaeological and historical sites and monuments.
