Egypt, UAE discuss bilateral agricultural cooperation, investment
Published 27 May,2021 via Daily News Egypt - Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture Elsayed Elkosayer has received Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, the UAE’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, to discuss agricultural cooperation and investment between the two countries.
In a statement on Thursday, Elkosayer confirmed that a major development has taken place thanks to the support of the political leadership in the two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of promoting cooperation in animal and poultry production, as well as fish farming. The joint cooperation would also extend to: veterinary services; artificial insemination; improvement of breeds; production of veterinary vaccines; and cooperation in scientific research; investment; and agricultural processing, especially palm and dates.
Elkosayer reviewed the agricultural renaissance that Egypt is currently witnessing, in order to achieve food security for citizens.
The minister noted the Egyptian state’s interest in food quality and safety, adding that human health begins with the quality of food.
He affirmed that Egypt has the best internationally accredited laboratories for examining food commodities.
It is currently achieving self-sufficiency in poultry and is exporting abroad after the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) approved 30 Egyptian establishments as free of bird flu.
